It’s LIVE!

Welcome to the new home of Lauren Tomasella Photography!   I am so happy you stopped by!   This day has been long awaited for.  Since starting Lauren Tomasella Photography in 2011, I have been wanting to create a style and feel for my business that truly reflected me and what I represent!  A huge thanks goes out to all of my clients for giving me those opportunities to photograph you and your families. Because of you, I have developed that style and feel and have a true understanding of my work.  In 2012, I was able to attend both Imaging USA in New Orleans, LA and WPPIU in Atlanta, GA.  I walked away from both conferences with a wealth of information and I am forever grateful to the amazing professionals in the business who are willing to give their time and share their experiences.  Two major influences in the past year have been from Zach & Jody and Sarah Petty.  I remember Zach & Jody’s time slot was one of the first ones of the morning (at the crack of dawn!) and they brought their energy.  It was so magnetic and I was fixed on every word.  Something that has stuck with me ever since is a line they quoted from Dan Miller’s 48 Days To The Work You Love:   “The books you read and the people you meet will determine where you will be five years from now.”  AMAZING advice.  I think of that quote at least once a day.  Since moving to Huntsville in 2010 I have been consciously aware of opportunities and of new relationships.  So many of those opportunities and relationships have been a *huge* influence for me and where I am today.

Speed up to November 2012!  I took part in the 2012 Huntsville Business Expo.  It was my first time ever having a booth at any expo and while I was overwhelmed at first in anticipation, I knew this would be a wonderful opportunity to put myself out there and introduce my business to Huntsville!  This is where I met the two wonderful ladies, Stephanie Mitchell of The Sassy South Boutique and Katie Theuer of Wedding Belles.  These two ladies have an incredible way of making you feel like you’ve been their best friends for years.  It was so refreshing and I can’t explain how much it meant!

Fast forward to January 2013 🙂  Katie Theuer of Wedding Belles and I set up a lunch date. It only made sense!  Her being a wedding events planner, me being a photographer.  Both new to Huntsville.   We were a perfect match!  The best part, she introduced me to the work of Anika Samples of Incandescent Creative.  Katie didn’t know it at the time, but I had been siting on a getting a new website for at least a year.  I’ve had the goal to pull my blog and website together all in one place.  I wanted a new logo reflecting my brand and style.  It kept coming to a standstill because my vision was never clear.  Immediately after lunch I went home and contacted Anika in excitement.  It just felt right!

And so the process began!  I mentioned before how I was influenced by Sarah Petty.  I was influenced most by her Joy of Marketing – 21 Days Branding.  She dives into it, providing exercises each day helping to identify your style.  It was the push I needed to reflect upon the past two years of my business.  In addition to the 21 Days Branding, I was working with Anika who gave incredible insight on rebranding.  Our first exercise was creating a list of words that related to my business.  That list is below!

For the longest time I was afraid to jump into rebranding on my own because of my biggest downfalls — being a perfectionist — and the fact that I can be the most indecisive person ever!  I’m convinced it’s because I’m the youngest in the family and have youngest child syndrome 🙂  I gave as much warning to Anika as I could. And bless her. She put up with me!  She is SO talented in her design and she was invested in the entire process.  I am forever grateful for her time and everything she has done this past year!  She helped me create a logo, website and brand that I am truly proud of and I know reflects everything I am about.  To the colors, fonts, layout and design — it’s perfect!

Thank you, Anika!

All My Best, Lauren
